The BarksdaleHotel
Forty-two rooms on a quiet stretch of coast, kept by the same family for four generations. Salt air, long dinners, nowhere to be.
The house
A small hotel that behaves like a private home.
The Barksdale was built as a winter residence and became a hotel almost by accident, when the family found it easier to keep the doors open than closed. Little has changed since: the same lime-washed walls, the same shaded verandas, the same insistence that a guest should never have to ask twice.
Rooms are furnished with what has always been here — teak, linen, brass, stone quarried an hour inland. Breakfast runs until noon because mornings on this coast deserve the extra hour.
